With rumors floating around in past weeks about Nike releasing every Kobe shoe that they have created in a so called “Fade to Black Pack”, Nike officially shuts that name down and releases official information on that they are calling the Kobe collection the “Black Mamba Pack” instead. The collection will feature all the shoes Kobe has worn throughout his 13 years with Nike starting with the Huarache 2K4 and ending with the Kobe Elite XI. In collaboration with Nike designer Eric Avar, Kobe has transcended the culture of Nike Basketball footwear with their unique design and technology and has a strong impact on the way basketball footwear is viewed.
This is a tribute from Nike to arguably the closest NBA player this generation has witnessed to Michael Jordan. Whether it was crowd-silencing buzzer beaters or tomahawk poster slam dunks there was no doubt that Kobe Bean Bryant will be missed as soon as he hangs it up at the conclusion of this regular season. Release of these shoes will start on March 22 with the Huarache 2K4 and will release in order leading all the way up to April 13, Bryant’s last career game in which he will be rocking the Kobe Elite XI. The shoes will be available at select Nike retailers in and through the Nike SNKRS system in very limited quantities.
